Acer recently announced its new C200 with a 12.1" screen. This innovatively-designed Tablet PC was released in the United States late in 2005.  We have some exclusive photos from the prototype first seen at WinHec.

Acer C200

The Acer® TravelMate® C200 is an all-new series of convertible tablets with a patented sliding-track mechanism that allows you to move between notebook and tablet modes in one smooth motion. You can choose a model that includes fingerprint security and two batteries, yet even with both batteries and the removable optical drive installed, weighs just 5.7 pounds.

TravelMate C300

The first convertible Tablet PC with a 14.1" display, the TravelMate® C300 also gives you a full-size keyboard, on-screen centralized controls and the benefits of Intel® Centrino[TM] mobile technology.

A no-compromises solution, the TravelMate C300 bridges the functionality gap, bringing the portability and intuitiveness of a tablet together with the broader connectivity and flexibility of a notebook.

The features listed below are part of the standard configurations. Upgrades and custom configurations are available in many cases.

If you're looking for information on the Acer C110 series, please click here.

The Acer® TravelMate® C300 is the convertible Tablet that you'll want to use as your primary computer. With a big 14.1" XGA display—a first for a Tablet PC—full-size keyboard and internal, modular optical drive, it's similar to the standard notebook you're probably using now.

The TravelMate C300, though, offers so much more. The screen becomes a writing surface when you rotate it and fold it back over the keyboard, perfect for taking notes, annotating documents, completing online forms and so much more.

The integrated light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness to one of four default settings based on available ambient light, or you can easily choose your own setting. This is done via hotkeys in notebook mode or by using the Acer Soft Button in Tablet mode.

The on-screen Soft Button feature gives you easy, centralized access to applications, wireless and modem connections, volume control and screen orientation.

If convertible Tablet PCs have intrigued you but you've been put off by their size, you owe it to yourself to consider the Acer TravelMate C300.

TravelMate 250PE
The Next Step in Pen-Enabled Computing

As you're typing away on your notebook computer, have you ever wished that you could add a few comments to the text—in "ink" and in your own handwriting? Now you can with the innovative TravelMate® 250PE from Acer®.

The TravelMate 250PE represents a new way to take advantage of pen-enabled computing because it lets you effortlessly switch from typing to writing and back again. Input data in the usual way, by typing on the keyboard, or by writing directly on the display with the EMR (electromagnetic resonance) pen. The Tablet Input Panel Support (TIPS) on the back of the screen allows you to adjust the big 14.1" LCD to the most comfortable writing angle.

The TravelMate 250PE's operating system, Microsoft® Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition, includes "inking" capabilities. So, should you install Microsoft XP Office, you'll be able to hand write text in Word and other familiar applications.

Productivity Tool
The TravelMate 250PE is an outstanding productivity tool for those who must review or edit documents. If you're an educator, instead of collecting stacks of papers and toting them to your office or home, have your students e-mail their work to you. Then simply open the documents on the Acer TravelMate 250PE and write in corrections and comments. You can even have your jottings converted into typewritten text as you write.

When you're finished, e-mail the papers back to each student via any one of the integrated connectivity tools—802.11b wireless LAN, 10/100 LAN or V.92 modem. What could be easier for you and your students?

Ultimate Whiteboard
The Acer TravelMate 250PE is just as useful to salespeople, business professionals or, in fact, anyone whose work involves creating and delivering compelling presentations. Simply connect the notebook to a projector and open your PowerPoint® document. As you move from slide to slide, grab the audience's attention by circling or underlining key points as you would on a whiteboard. You make your marks, though, on the TravelMate 250PE display, and the audience sees them via the projector.

All-in-One Convenience
The TravelMate 250PE delivers optimum all-in-one convenience with its built-in diskette drive plus a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive that you can use to burn your own CDs. You get a full complement of ports, including four USB 2.0, for connecting to a printer, external monitor or your choice of other peripherals. The RJ-45 and RJ-11 connectors on the TravelMate 250PE support, respectively, the integrated 10/100 LAN and V.92 data/fax modem. The 802.11b wireless LAN rounds out the communications tools that come with the notebook.
